About this Training Course

This three-day intensive course equips energy professionals, legal practitioners, and government officials with a comprehensive understanding of Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs). Participants will explore PSC fundamentals, including cost recovery, profit-sharing, and fiscal terms, while advancing to complex topics such as financial modeling, local content, and environmental obligations. Through interactive exercises like contract analysis, financial simulations, and negotiation scenarios, attendees will develop practical skills to navigate real-world challenges and balance stakeholder interests. By the end of the course, participants will be prepared to manage PSCs effectively and adapt to the evolving legal and regulatory landscape in the energy sector.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand PSC Fundamentals: Analyze the structure, key provisions, and fiscal mechanisms of production sharing contracts, including cost recovery and profit-sharing arrangements.
  2. Evaluate Legal and Regulatory Frameworks: Navigate the legal, policy, and regulatory requirements governing PSCs, including environmental, fiscal, and operational compliance.
  3. Perform Financial Analysis of PSCs: Apply financial modeling techniques to calculate cost recovery, profit oil allocation, and the economic implications of different contractual terms.
  4. Develop Effective Negotiation Strategies: Formulate negotiation approaches to balance the interests of contractors and host governments, addressing stabilization clauses, risk allocation, and local content requirements.
  5. Address Emerging Trends and Challenges: Respond to evolving industry dynamics, including shifts in energy policy, environmental obligations, and the integration of low-carbon strategies into PSC frameworks.
